Congress Sweepstakes Run a Dream Come True for Mikayla Conklin

“Congress 2019 will be one that I cherish forever! Flipper Ta Fame, you are my girl and always amaze me,” said Mikayla Conklin in a Facebook post from the All American Quarter Horse Congress. Mikayla, a Kentucky Equine Research-sponsored rider, enjoyed the hometown advantage of a large cheering section as she and Flipper competed in the barrel racing classes at the show, held in Columbus, Ohio.

“She ran her heart out for me this week going 4 for 4 on clean runs and placing in every class,” Mikayla said. “She also achieved a huge dream of mine, making the Congress Barrel Racing Sweepstakes finals! We tied for fifth in round 1 and placed fourteenth in the second round. We qualified back to the finals in the fourteenth spot! She came back in the finals and laid one down for me winning second in the short go and landing us sixth place in the average!”
