Eventers Complete Burghley for the First Time

Liz Halliday-Sharp and Dom Schramm, both sponsored by Kentucky Equine Research, achieved a lifelong goal to complete what is regarded as one of the toughest five-star three-day events, the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials held in Lincolnshire, England.
“Thank you, Deniro Z (Niro),” Liz said in a Facebook post, “It feels like I’ve waited a lifetime to say that I’ve completed Burghley, and to finish 15th with my horse of a lifetime that gave me everything he had in all three phases is pretty special.”
“In the dressage, we achieved a personal best at the level of 28.4, and Niro tried so hard for me and was a complete professional!” she continued. “Cross-country was a serious challenge. I came with a super horse that was fit and ready with plenty of scope and gallop, and he truly gave me his whole heart out there.”
“Niro came out on Sunday looking great and tried so hard in the show jumping!” She finished her wrap-up saying, “Most importantly, I have a true Burghley horse now that has come home happy and sound and proud of his achievement.”
Dom Schramm, an Australian who has been based in the U.S. for almost 10 years, was delighted to finish “a serious course and an absolute relentless test from start to finish.” Burghley was his second CCI-5* event, making his five-star debut at the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event this spring. “Boly (Bolytair B) was incredible. I was so, so happy with him. He was so brave,” Dom said in a Facebook video after cross-country.
He also bragged on his adopted U.S. teammates in his post-event Facebook post, “When we arrived to Burghley, I was originally stabled in the next barn, away from all the Americans. Trouble was, there were no tack stalls in that barn because nearly all the riders in there were working out of lorries, and we had five big trunks and a bunch of stuff. Straightaway, the Americans said no way, you need to move up to this barn and share a tack stall because you are one of us. It was probably a pretty simple thing for them, but it was really impactful for me.”
Liz feeds Deniro Z RE-LEVE® from KER Targeted Nutrition. “Last year we found out that Deniro Z had really terrible ulcers. We couldn’t believe it because he looks wonderful, and he’s a very happy horse. When his performance dwindled at an event, we had him scoped, and we were horrified to see how many ulcers he had,” she said. “Now, we’re really strict with our feeding program. We’ve always supported RE-LEVE Original, but he used to get a little bit more energizing feed. Now, he is purely on RE-LEVE Original, and he’s never been better.”
Liz also uses Bio-Bloom™ PS, EO-3™, EquiShure®, Nano-Q10™, Restore® SR, RiteTrac®, and Synovate HA® to give her horses targeted nutritional support for optimal performance.
Dom and his wife, Jimmie, use diets formulated by the experts at Kentucky Equine Research to provide their horses with optimal nutrition. They count on Bio-Bloom™ PS, Nano-E®, Restore® SR, Synovate HA® and KER-formulated Legends® Feeds.
