Kentucky Equine Research(opens new window) (KER) maintains a herd of approximately 40 horses(opens new window) on its 150-acre research farm in Central Kentucky. These experienced equine research animals are KER’s most valuable employees and are cared for by a large staff.

Meet Pepe, a black Thoroughbred gelding and a real prima donna. He is beautiful and there is no doubt he knows it. He is a spooky sort and if anything is changed in the barn or around the farm, he will take notice, but Pepe has a heart of gold and keeps the interns(opens new window) entertained with his quirky personality. Learn more about KER’s research horse program here(opens new window).

KER welcomes any visitors interested in seeing the farm and meeting the horses. Make an appointment(opens new window) to stop by for a visit!
